Two additions to Harper/Love technical field staff
Skip Gatrell has joined Harper/Love as a technical service representative. Skip has over 45 years of industry experience, having worked for St. Regis/Georgia Pacific in a variety of positions over his lengthy career. He has also been a Technical Service Representative for a specialty adhesive company for the past 10 years. Skip will continue to live in Akron, Ohio, and will service Harper/Love customers primarily in the Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan areas.
Mark Parrett joins the Harper/Love technical staff to help service customers in the Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota areas. Mark has almost 20 years of industry experience with Menasha, Inland and also a recent stint with a specialty adhesives company in the Midwest. Mark will continue to live in the greater Chicago area.

HARPER/LOVE HOSTS
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
CHARLOTTE—Harper/Love Adhesives Corporation recently hosted a technical symposium for the company’s international agents. Attending were agents representing the company in Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Costa Rica.
The purpose of the symposium was to explore adhesive issues of particular interest and importance in Latin America, and to expand the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of Harper/Love technical agents serving those markets.
Presentations covered a range of topics, including: cross-linking properties of starch and resin; new automated tools for monitoring and calculating adhesive consumption; monitoring liner and medium temperatures to improve board quality; dealing with directional fiber tear; polyphenolic additives and their importance in agricultural boxes; formulating with alternative starches such as tapioca, potato, wheat, cassava and pea; and understanding steam pressure drop across modern single facers.
The sessions were held in early January at Harper/Love headquarters in Charlotte.

HARPER/LOVE RECOGNIZES LONG-TERM ASSOCIATES
CHARLOTTE—At its annual sales meeting in Charlotte, Harper/Love Adhesives Corporation recognized six associates who have been with the company for fifteen years. Ron Harper, president, presented the awards.
The six associates receiving 15-year awards are Bill Loppnow, Jim Carbone, Denise Barlow, Barry Mitchell, Phil Smith, and Pam Flynn.
In addition, the Harper/Love sales and technical team also includes 4 individuals with more than 15 years of service, as does the company’s manufacturing group. Altogether, the company has 14 associates with 15 years or more of service.
Said Bill Kahn, general manager, “In today’s business environment, this level of longevity is remarkable. We’re delighted so many good people have made their careers with us. Along with our continuing partnership with N.B. Love, their depth of experience helps us deliver consistent, knowledgeable service to our customers over the long term.”
